Experience one of Australia's oldest Georgian Mansions built in 1829. Originally called Melbourne Lodge, The 4-star Lodge on Elizabeth was built by John Stracey who was the colony's first auctioneer. It became a private school for boys in 1831. It then became the home for the Honourable George Salier (MLC), his wife Harriet and their fourteen children.
For a period of over 180 years, many notable families have resided here - including the Premier: the Honourable Adye Douglas (MLC). The lodge on Elizabeth is listed by the National Trust and forms part of the National Estate - thus becoming part of Australia's lasting heritage. Each of the 13 rooms have a different look and feel: all have ensuites and some of the more luxurious rooms feature spas and four-poster beds.
