As the capital Sydney has the most to offer to Australian holidays, with the landmark attractions such as the Harbour Bridge and Opera House as obvious destinations, but with many of the most beautiful beaches in Australia also positioned inside the city.
In the north of ‘NSW’ is the laid-back Byron Bay, famed for its surf beaches, cheap holidays, creative residents and popular music festivals. A little way south is Coffs Harbour, home of the ‘Big Banana’ and a destination for backpackers and many family holiday deals. Both towns offer whale or dolphin-watching cruises at certain times of the year.
The Hunter Valley is a major wine-growing region and home to many great New South holiday packages. Some local wine tours travel from Sydney, picking up and dropping off at key hotel accommodation.
Further into NSW on your domestic holidays, you’ll find key regions each with their own attraction. Tamworth is the home of Australian country music, Bathurst holds the famous V8 car race every year and the Blue Mountains are well-known for their scenery.
