Banff Transport Guide

Banff has public transport options of buses and taxis to get around town quickly, however the beauty of the Canadian Rockies and Banff National Park is best seen on foot.

How to get around Banff

The Banff town itself is small and easy to get around on foot. Everything is only 5 to 10 minutes' away and there are plenty of hiking trails to take you into the national park to access the mountains, valleys, lakes and numerous views. Hiring a car is not essential and entails a string of fees such as a daily park entrance fee, parking fees and, of course, fuel. Using the inexpensive and extensive public bus service is the best way to travel around this area. Public buses travel regularly to destinations such as Lake Louise, Canmore and the Fairmount Golf Course within Banff National Park. You can also hire a bike to see the sights on two wheels, or catch a cab at night or for the grocery run.
