Barcelona Transport Guide

Barcelona boasts a varied and efficient public transport system with buses, trams, local trains and metro services, which are all linked by multi-journey tickets (targetas) that can be used by multiple people for the same trip. There’s also a Barcelona Card especially for tourists.

How to get around Barcelona

With six colour-coded lines and extensive operating hours, the metro is the fastest and easiest way to travel from A to B in Barcelona. Buses , including 16 night bus routes, run regularly except for weekends and pass through the main downtown hubs of Plaça Catalunya, Plaça Universitat or Plaça Urquinaona.  While there are six tramlines, only the T4 line is useful for visitors and runs from Ciutadella to Vila Olímpica. Metered taxis are easy to find at cab ranks or hailed on the street, or you can jump on a Bicing public transport bicycle for an annual fee. For an unique way to check out the city, consider hiring a motorised scooter or join a Segway tour.
