Egypt Transport Guide

Can you go to Egypt without taking a trip around a pyramid on top of a camel? Well, that’s up to you. There are plenty of other methods of transport from quad bikes and juiced-up go-karts in the desert to boat cruises on the Nile and live-aboard trips for scuba-diving nuts.

How to get around Egypt

Traveling around Egypt is relatively safe and efficient if you use your usual sound judgement. It’s possible to rent a car here, but easier to use taxis for moving about cities. Each city has its own taxi colours and it’s recommended you negotiate and agree on a fixed price before the start of your journey. Cabs are generally very affordable. Travelling further afield, there are regular bus, train and plane (Egypt Air) routes to all major tourist destinations and beyond. Long-distance buses are great for day trips as they are usually air-conditioned and provide refreshments along the way.
