Croatia Holidays

From an often tumultuous historic past as part of Communist state Yugoslavia, Croatia has grown into a thriving independent nation with some of the Mediterranean's most stunning scenery and coastline.
There are a number of novel ways to enjoy your Croatia holidays, with dozens of charter boat companies offering tours out of the southern city of Split, either bareboat or crewed. Even if you've never had the chance to handle a proper sailing boat, there are classes and schools to help you learn. If being on the sea isn't your thing, thanks to the terrain there has been a massive boom in adventure holidays with the chance to cycle, kayak, hike, dive or 4x4 off-road around the country.
Anyone feeling brave enough might want to visit one of the twenty official 'naturist' resorts or hundreds of 'free' beaches as Croatia experiences a surge in nude tourism. Look for any beach marked with the letters 'FKK' and get your kit off!
Split sports some great examples of Roman architecture as emperor Diocletian used Split as his own personal retirement village, throwing in a couple of huge Egyptian sphinxes too for good measure. The city also has its own version of Bondi at Bacvice which will give you a feel for the 'real' Split, but there are plenty quieter beaches to the north.
Dubrovnik, the final destination for many of the sailing trips, is nicknamed the 'Pearl of the Adriatic' and is packed full of churches, museums, towers and palaces. The city also hosts its own Summer festival through July and August. If you don't mind your beer in a plastic cup and you're happy just eating crisps or nuts, see if you can find Café Buza and spend a few hours with the sea lapping the rocks below you.
What capital Zagreb lacks in coastline, it makes up for in nightlife with a huge selection of beers at the Pub Oliver Twist, Hemingway's in the middle of the cultural district or a raft of nightclubs and bars around the Jarun Lake, to the southwest of the city.

Relax on board a vintage sailing boat travelling Split to Split return, cruise the magical Adriatic and more…
DAY 1: Dubrovnik - Mljet
We embark on our Croatia sailing experience from Dubrovnik harbour at lunch time and cruise to our first overnight stop, Mljet. Enjoy the sun and sea on this peaceful island. Tonight there may be an option to enjoy dinner or a BBQ on board our ship.
DAY 2: Mljet - Makarska
From Mljet we head across to the Makarska Riviera located on the coast of mainland Croatia. Spend the afternoon swimming at one of the many beautiful beaches here. Tonight we stay in the port of Makarska, one of the most attractive resorts on the Croatian coast.
DAY 3: Makarska - Split
Today we journey to Split, via Omis. There is an option to go white water rafting. Split is a UNESCO World Heritage city, and has an abundance of Roman architecture including Diocletian's Palace.
DAY 4: Split - Hvar
We continue our journey to Hvar, one of Croatia's hotspots. Hvar offers plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes that are open long into the night. We could walk up to visit the Spanish Fortress or head straight to Hula Hula Beach for water sports and chill out time. Party into the early morning if we want.
DAY 5: Hvar - Korcula
Our next stop is Korcula, the birthplace of Marco Polo. Why not visit Marco Polo's house before a sunset cocktail at Massimos cocktail bar, built in the turret of a 15th century tower, where we climb a ladder to get in and our drinks come up by pulley.
DAY 6: Korcula - Trstenik
We leave Korcula and continue to Trstenik, a village and harbour on the southern coast of Peljesac peninsula. We have the afternoon to relax and swim here. Trstenik's famous for its Dingac wine, make sure to sample some while here.
DAY 7: Trstenik - Dubrovnik
Today we return to Dubrovnik. Enjoy the beautiful sights in the city that George Bernard Shaw called 'heaven on earth'. Take a walk through Stradun - a promenade and square inside the city walls or for those with a bit more energy, walk along the top of the 1,940m long city walls What better place to spend our last night than the 'Jewel of the Adriatic'.
DAY 8: Dubrovnik
Our trip finishes this morning in Dubrovnik and after an early breakfast it is time to say goodbye to the crew and farewell to our travelling companions.
Itinerary subject to change due to weather conditions and mooring conditions. There is also an optional excursion offered to Montenegro by minibus.
