Greek Islands Holidays

Print Version Screen Version

Greek Island holidays are the stuff of dreams - stunning scenery, a friendly atmosphere where you can either relax or rage if you want to, warm sun and plenty of cold drinks. Combine these with ancient sites, bustling quaint harbours and the freshest of fresh seafood and it's no wonder this place is so popular at any time of the year.

During holiday season the place is packed with young Aussies kicking up their heels in the many Greek Islands. While there are countless great holiday resorts and hotels scattered throughout the Greek Islands, there are several that are especially well known for catering to 18-25 year olds, along with a number of bars and clubs that are popular hangouts.

The island of Crete is in the Mediterranean Sea, just south of Greece. Malia is the resort to stay at in Create as well as having one of the hottest bars in Crete. The Factory is the place to be if you're into house music while Camelot Castle Club is another favourite, well known for its famous 'foam parties' that are held regularly.

If you are planning on visiting Corfu, to the west of Greece, then Kavos is the perfect place to stay. Although this resort is fairly small, its Wild West theme with neon signs just adds to the atmosphere. The Rolling Stone bar, JC's, Future and Atlantis nightclub are always full of action, unless everyone heads outside for one of their infamous beach parties. Corfu has a great variety of food too, from pizzerias to kebabs and the aptly named eatery, The Drunken Squid.

For lively Greek Island Holidays in Rhodes, all the action is in Faliraki. This Beach resort lies on the east coast of Rhodes and is close to everything you will need - shops, bars and food. If you want to find your way to the action, some say you only have to follow the noise.

There are more than 100 clubs and bars throughout the small island of Rhodes, the most popular nightspots being Q Club, Bed and Ziggy's. For something a bit different, check out the Crusader fortress. This stone fortress has several bars hidden away within the walls.

If you want to check out some of the other activities during your Greek Island Holidays - and are up to it after all the late nights - there is plenty on offer. You can spend your days sailing through impossibly blue waters discovering isolated Greek Islands, dive or snorkel through abundant colourful sea life or just soak up some of the region's rich and ancient history.

Greek Island holidays are a must do for any dedicated traveller.
