If you want to visit the Prime Minister, than take a flight into Canberra Airport (CBR). Although the airport is only about 10 minutes from the centre Canberra by road, at peak hour you can expect to at least triple that time (must be all the pollies trying to escape question time).
Canberra airport has a single passenger terminal and is known for regularly being fog bound in winter. Aside from that minor problem, it has all the mod cons you would expect.
