Vienna International Airport (VIE) – Austria's gateway to the world

Back to airports in Austria

The Vienna Airport (VIE) is 18 kms from Vienna, Austria. The airport is often referred to by the name of the adjoining nearby town of called Schwechat (which sounds a bit like someone sneezing).

Vienna Airport is Austria's largest and busiest airport and has three main terminals – Mainterminal 1, Mainterminal 2 and Provisory Terminal 1A. The last terminal is used for low cost carriers.

Vienna International Airport consists of two terminals that offer facilities as banks, ATMs, Bureau de Change facilities, Post Offices, Porter Services/Luggage Trolleys and Winter-coat storage (now I remember where I left my coat!).

Travelers have several options to get from the Vienna Airport (VIE) to downtown Vienna. There is the Vienna S-Bahn and the City Airport Train (CAT) which is the more expensive option. Plenty of buses ply the route as well.
