Brussels Currency Guide
Belgium uses the Euro.
Despite ATMs not being widespread across the country, Brussels has more than its fair share of ATMs. You’ll find ATMs around the Grand Place, Brussels National Airport and at Gare du Midi. The ATMs generally accept MasterCard and Visa.
Generally speaking, Belgium is a cash-based society, so you should carry some Euros in your pocket. You can pre-purchase Euros from Travel Money Oz before you fly, or from various banks and bureau de exchange outlets in Belgium.
If you'd like the security that a credit card offers while travelling without the risk of racking up debt, consider purchasing a pre-paid cash travel card. Available from Travel Money Oz, Cash Passports allow you to load your money in the form of Euros and other currencies onto the card. Your money can then be accessed at various ATMS and used wherever MasterCard is accepted. The Cash Passport card has both a security pin and signature required for safe spending.
