Byron Bay Transport Guide
Byron Bay does not offer any public transport services as it is quite easy to walk around. Cars (or VW Kombi vans) are the most common way of getting around town and to nearby attractions, however there is limited free street parking within Byron Bay and traffic on the main road into town is a constant issue during the day.
How to get around Byron Bay
The actual town of Byron Bay is quite compact and easy to traverse on foot. Many locals and visitors also get around on bicycles, which is a convenient way to get from A to B and from accommodation to the beach or markets. To go further than Byron, you’ll need to hire a car or use the buses that service the towns around Byron Shire. Hitchhikers are a common sight around the start of highways and roads out of town but this method of travel is not recommended. There is also a taxi service available, which is a good option if you’re planning a big night out but you’ll need to call to book.
