Caribbean Transport Guide

From cruise trips to local water taxis and coconut-shaped taxis to aerial gondolas hovering over rainforests, transport across the Caribbean sure does vary. Luckily, there are plenty of transport options to cater to all budgets, tastes and, um, adventure levels in the Caribbean!

How to get around Caribbean

In addition to boarding a cruise ship for a dalliance across some of the 700-plus islands in the area, the most popular option getting to and from the Caribbean’s tourist destinations usually require flights to the main international airports including Aruba, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Cuba, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica and St Lucia. From there, there’s no shortage of bus, water ferry and shared-cost public transportation services to take advantage of to keep the costs down and interact with new people. Taxis, water taxis and other options are also available and many hotels offer transfers. Getting out and about exploring can be a unique transport experience, ranging from coconut-shaped taxis around towns to reef-exploring submarines.
