Darwin Currency Guide
Darwin uses the Australian Dollar.
There are several major bank ATMs in the Darwin city centre and also at petrol stations and the airport. If you are travelling to Australia from overseas and plan on withdrawing money or using your credit card in Australia, don't forget to notify your bank before you go for security purposes.
International travellers should convert some of their local currency into Australian Dollars before you fly to have with you when you arrive in the country. Australian Dollars are also available to purchase and exchange at Travel Money Oz stores when you land.
For large purchases, it's a good idea to bring a credit card or travel card with you on your holiday to Darwin instead of carrying a lot of cash. If you don't have a credit card, consider a pre-paid Cash Passport, which lets you access your own money in the form of Australian Dollars from ATMs and wherever MasterCard is accepted.
