If you're not so keen on a surf board then rest easy because there are other ways to get around Hawaii. None of which involve the risk of a wipeout.
How to get around Hawaii
For the most part, getting around the islands is best done by hiring a car. To travel between islands, domestic flights are the quickest way to go. If you're not confident driving, most resorts will provide shuttle buses to reach the major attractions, otherwise public buses are available on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island, as well as the open-air Waikiki Trolley which stops off at the most popular attractions. For a more comprehensive view of the islands, see the highlights on a tour or cruise.
