Morocco Currency Guide
Morocco uses the Moroccan Dirham.
ATM facilities can be found throughout metropolitan parts of Morocco, particularly outside banks and in hotels, shopping centres and the airport, but it’s handy to have small amounts of cash in more remote areas. If you plan to withdraw money or use your credit card while traveling, don’t forget to notify your bank before you go for security purposes.
When you arrive it is important to convert some of your Australian Dollars into Moroccan Dirhams and remember, it is illegal to export them. Keep extra change on you as tipping is the norm.
For large purchases, it’s a good idea to bring a credit card with you on your holiday to Morocco instead of carrying a lot of cash. If you don’t have a credit card, consider a debit credit card that allows you to access your savings account and the local currency from ATMs and wherever credit cards are accepted.
