Netherlands Currency Guide
The Netherlands uses the Euro.
You can find ATMs mostly outside banks, at train stations and in airports all over the Netherlands. Dutch ATMs accept most major cards and all cards that use the Cirrus network. If you plan on withdrawing money or using your credit card while travelling, don’t forget to notify your bank before you go for security purposes and check what international withdrawal fees may apply to your card.
Before you travel to the Netherlands, it’s a good idea to convert some of your Australian Dollars to Euros to have with you when you arrive. Euros are available to pre-purchase from Travel Money Oz before you fly. In Holland, look out for banks or post offices (postbanks), which offer the most competitive exchange rates and reasonable commission rates.
If you like the security that a credit card offers while travelling without the risk of racking up debt, consider purchasing a prepaid cash travel money card. A Multi-currency Cash Passport™ allows you to load your money in the form of Euros and other currencies onto the card. Your money can then be accessed at various ATMs and used wherever MasterCard® is accepted. The Multi-currency Cash Passport card has both a security pin and signature required for safe spending.
