Puerto Vallarta Travel Guide
Introduction to Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is one of the most fun places to visit in the whole of Mexico, and that’s a big call! Puerto Vallarta is home to crazy nightlife, sandy beaches, water sports, a sparkling blue bay and a historic centre beaming with trendy boutiques, restaurants and bars. This is what Puerto Vallarta, the gateway to Mexico’s famous Riviera Nayarit, is all about – fun in the sun with an added touch of sophistication!
Located on Mexico’s Pacific Coast, Puerto Vallarta oozes charm with its trendy hotels and resorts complete with VIP spa treatments and the rest. The city boasts more than 250 restaurants and a bedazzling nightlife that sits against a backdrop of beauty from yesteryear, that is cobblestone streets, a bustling promenade and an elegant cathedral and town square.
The beaches are one of the biggest drawcards to Puerto Vallarta. Head south for snorkelling at places like Playa Mismaloya; to Playa Los Muertos and Boca de Tomatlan for sunbathing and people watching at restaurants and bars; and Yelapa and Las Anima via boat for an excluded getaway or overnight stay. Surfers should head north of town for the best conditions.
From scuba diving to golf and horseback riding to swimming with the dolphins, there are plenty of outdoor activities to suit all tastes should you fancy a break from the beach of party life. Boat cruises are hugely popular and a great way to explore the idyllic coastal setting (and to meet new friends!).
