Snowy Mountains Transport Guide
The best and most flexible way to get to and around the Snowy Mountains is by car. Some coach lines, charters and private transfers are also available for travel to and through the Snowy Mountains, as well as limited rail and taxi services.
How to get around the Snowy Mountains
The easiest way to lug you and your luggage around the Snowy Mountains is by car. The Snowies has a good network of highways and sealed roads but if you are driving during the winter months then you’ll need to fit your two-wheel drive car with snow chains for safety reasons. Snow chains can be hired from service stations and ski hire outlets in the region. The Skitube Alpine Railway allows access to Blue Cow, Perisher Valley and Bullocks Flat during the winter months only, and there are also metered taxi services and hire car companies operating in the towns of Cooma and Jindabyne.
