Toronto Currency Guide
Toronto uses the Canadian Dollar.
ATMs can be found all throughout Toronto, particularly in the city centre areas, main throughfares, shopping centres and at most petrol stations. If you plan on withdrawing money or using your credit card while travelling, don't forget to notify your bank before you go for security purposes and to check what international withdrawal fees may apply to your card.
Before you leave home, it is important to convert some of your Australian Dollars into Canadian Dollars to have with you when you arrive in Toronto. Canadian Dollars are available to pre-purchase from Travel Money Oz before you fly.
For large purchases, it's a good idea to bring a credit card or travel money card with you on your holiday instead of carrying a lot of cash. If you don't have a credit card, consider a pre-paid Multi-currency Cash Passport™, which lets you access your money in the form of Canadian Dollars, and other major currencies, from ATMs and use on services and products wherever MasterCard® is accepted.
