Miami! The USA's Gold Coast? Also home to Ultra Music Festival - think Depeche Mode for the name, think three-days of electronic music for the festival. Running since 1999, Ultra can also be found in Ibiza, Buenos Aires, Santiago, Seoul and Cape Town amongst others but Miami is the original. Held over three days, the festival has previously attracted in excess of 160, 000 punters and the likes of Carl Cox, Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Cut Copy and Basement Jaxx.

A place in the sun for electronic music lovers, Ultra attracts some of the biggest names with super production in Florida. Having set attendance records in the past for the City of Miami, the festival has featured artists crossing over from other genres and even Madonna in 2012! Not without its own controversy (like many of the big international festivals), the festival survived possible banning in 2014 and is still held downtown Miami, which makes it convenient for accommodation, access etc.

Pre-sales sell quickly for the three-day event and given the hype, if you are keen it is best to get in early. Transport options are good thanks to its location and the local city council extend trains into the night during festival time. Miami is popular with not just retirees but fast boats, cruise ships, other arts festivals and Latin America. If you are planning a holiday, there is more to this destination than just sun - although dancing in the sun is certainly recommended! Ask Student Flights how to make the most of it.
