Keep calm and carry om at Wanderlust Festivals
Unravel your yoga mat, align your chakras and assume your asanas, the Wanderlust Festivals are coming to Australia for the first time ever in 2014. Touching down in Melbourne on March 10 and Sydney on March 30, Wanderlust in the City Festivals are like an ecstatic summit for yogis and yoginis. If you like your sunbird pose with a side of beats, this is the festival for you.
Think your usual group yoga sesh amped up with music performances, ‘Speakeasy’ mindful lectures, meditation programs, farm-to-table nosh, wine tastings, hikes, films and more in a lush setting with like-minded folk, of course. It’s all local, organic and one-of-a-kind.
The Melbourne instalment of Wanderlust in the City takes place at South Beach in St Kilda. Tunes will be courtesy of The Bamboos, DJ Jumps and Tahir Faridi Sufi Qawwali Ensemble, and the mind/body/spirit gurus are all local and international denizens across a range of disciplines.
In Sydney, The Domain in the Royal Botanic Gardens will welcome DJ Goodwill, The Bamboos and Tahir Faridi Sufi Qawwali Ensemble to provide the music for dancing under the stars. By day, a range of local and international yogis will help you bend it like Bikram and other yoga styles with workshops, meditation sessions, workshops and art to round out your experience at the Sydney Wanderlust in the City.
Feel the karmic urge to get your om on and strike a pose somewhere else in the world? How about warrior pose in Whistler, doing the cobra in California or a tree stance in Hawaii? You can be practicing yoga en masse in amazing picturesque locations at the massive Wanderlust Festivals in North America during a huge multi-day camping event. Some of the stunning settings include the resort town of Aspen, the Hawaiian island of Oahu and Lake Tremblant in Quebec.
And it’s not just different styles of yoga on the menu. You can sample parkour, pop-up music performances, healing rituals from around the world and even meditation hikes! Stand-up paddleboard yoga or rollerskating discos, anyone? See you at the green juice stand…
